My Research

Avian Genomics: A blend of bioinformatics and birds.

As DNA sequencing technology advances and produces vast amounts of data, there is a growing need for researchers skilled in computer science and biology. Bioinformatics applies computer science to help make sense of this data to address biologically relevant questions. My research focuses on leveraging bioinformatics to investigate how differences in bird genomes affect their susceptibility to bacterial infections.

Book Review: How Birds Evolve

This book by renowned evolutionary biologist, Douglas Futuyma, dives deep into the role of birds in the development of evolutionary theory. From Darwin's finches in the 1800s to modern avian genomic studies, birds have played a significant role in biology.

The Birds of Dune

In Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel, birds and their features are represented in various ways. This work features ornithopters that mimic bird flight, birds highly adapted to the desert, and messenger birds carrying distrans messages.
